A professional year is a 12 months (44 Weeks) professional development program that can be completed by students who have already graduated from a recognized educational institution in Australia. It is designed to prepare students for professional careers in the Australian Workforce after completing a Bachelor or Master Degree. The Professional Year Program combines both formal learning and workplace experience to prepare students for future employment within Australia.

A Professional Year Program is also important for students who are wishing to apply for their Australian Permanent Residency as they are entitled to receive an extra 5 points under the Skilled Migration pathway. Professional Year Programs are available in the fields of:
• Engineering
• Accounting
• Computer Science
or
• A Closely Related Field of Study to the above three
These are the three industries in Australia where the demand for Skilled Graduate is very high and The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will only approve Professional Year program from the above three streams.
